DIRECTOR'S MESSAGE

Visualizing the rapid advancement of genomics and bioinformatics technology, as well as potential applications of genome data on various areas in biomedical and biological sciences, many researchers, teachers and employees in the business sectors felt that they have the needs to enrich their knowledge on genomics and bioinformatics.

To satisfy their needs, the Master of Science in Genomics and Bioinformatics programme has been established since 2011 and was migrated from the CUHK-BGI Innovation Institute of Trans-omics (Inter-faculty) to the School of Biomedical Sciences (Medicine) with effect from the academic year 2018-19, in the hope of providing postgraduate training on these two important fields.

OBJECTIVES

MSc in Genomics and Bioinformatics

  • To enrich students who graduated in the Faculties of Medicine, Science, and Engineering with knowledge of genomics and bioinformatics;
  • To train students to critically appraise scientific work in related fields;
  • To provide students with experience in carrying out genomics and bioinformatics research;
  • To enable students to apply the knowledge learned to their work which is related to biological or biomedical research.
